Masham is a bustling market town with large square hosting an outdoor market each Wednesday and Saturday, surrounded by various shops, pubs and tea rooms and overlooked by St Mary’s Church. The town became well known in medieval times as a centre for the Dales Sheep industry and it is this square which continues to hold the annual Masham Sheep Fair each September.
