Positive: A truly special and peaceful stay We had a wonderful stay at Lapwing Villa View and felt at home right away. Nangi and Dasun are incredibly warm and caring hosts, and the whole place has a very familiar, personal atmosphere. From the first moment on, we felt genuinely welcomed and looked after. Even just being on the property feels like a nature experience in itself, you constantly hear and see so many different birds, and the whole area is incredibly calming and peaceful. At first, we weren’t sure whether to go to Yala or Udawalawe National Park, as we had heard about large numbers of jeeps and sometimes stressful situations for the animals. We are so happy we chose Bundala National Park instead. We did a half day safari there with Dasun, and it was an amazing experience. There were only a few jeeps in the park, and Dasun was extremely attentive and respectful towards the wildlife. He has a great eye for birds and animals, and thanks to him we saw so much, including elephants. In the evening, we also did a catamaran ride on the lake, which was incredibly beautiful. Watching the sunset from the water was a special moment, and we even saw elephants bathing in the lake. Nangi cooked delicious, fresh Sri Lankan food, and having breakfast and dinner with a view over the lake was a real highlight. With only two cabins, the place is very quiet and never feels busy. The rooms are spacious, clean, air-conditioned, and the bathroom was great. If you are looking for a calm, authentic place close to nature, with hosts who truly care and a very personal touch, this is the perfect spot. Highly recommended.
