This splendid old villa with its large pool and beautiful garden is ideal for both sight seeing and also a relaxing holiday. It is situated close to the walled towns of Cortona and, overlooking Lake Trasimeno, Castiglione del Lago. It is located centrally between Florence and Rome, and Siena and Perugia/Assisi.
The main accommodation is upstairs where the rooms are large and airy as a consequence of the incredibly high ceilings. A pleasant breeze cools the bedrooms as the house is on a slight hill. The floors are all terracotta or terrazzo tiles and keep the house cool. There is a large very well equipped kitchen/dining room upstairs as well as a sitting room. There is a high quality Clavinova piano in the sitting room.
Downstairs there is a very comfortable large garden room with three sets of French doors looking out over the garden and pool. It has wicker sofas and chairs, a dining table and chairs and a small kitchenette. There is a downstairs shower room for use after your dip in the pool.
Because we know you will want lots of cold drinks, there is a drinks cooler for your wine, beer and soft drinks as well as a large fridge/freezer. In fact everything you might need to spend a relaxing time by the pool or in the garden without having to go upstairs. Because the bathrooms have showers, we provide a baby bath, and there is also a safety gate which can be fitted to the top of the stairs. There are also 2 high chairs and 2 cots. WiFi is available not only in the house but also by the pool. There are numerous interesting outbuildings: a block of three pig styes (no longer in use as such), a huge bread oven which at one time was used by the whole village to bake their bread and pies once a week, a picturesque well, two hay barns which are now used as garages, and finally a tobacco drying tower which was erected when tobacco was still grown in this area. There is also lots of parking space.
