Now this really is a home from home. Rietine 24 is named after the number of the house and the hamlet in which it’s set. You'll find it in a charming huddle of old stone buildings, through a pair of ornate iron gates, across a courtyard, and up a flight of stone stairs.
Stop at the front door and turn to survey the view from the little covered terrace, which takes full advantage of the scene, a glorious sweep of vineyard-laced hills. This is the heart of Chianti, and your address is the perfect location from which to explore the local wineries and classic hilltop towns, including nearby Gaiole.
The maisonette is semi-detached and shares access across some outdoor spaces with an adjacent home, both the villa and its outdoor spaces are overlooked. There are several steps up to the property and between the first and second floors.
Step inside to discover a large living space with a long dining table and a cosy nook with chairs set around an old hearth. To one side you’ll find a fully equipped kitchen, at the rear of which is a door to a second sitting room. There’s plenty of space for your party of eight to spread out in.
You’ll have noticed the décor is characterful, a country-cottage look with bold contemporary accents. Modern furnishings and an eye-catching choice of patterns and colours complement the traditional fabric of terracotta floors, tiled and beamed ceilings, and exposed stone walls. This is no more apparent than up the stone stairs on the first floor where five bedrooms are decorated with vivid splashes of colour and feature wallpapers, patterned floor tiles and striking works of art.
