Positive: Great view of the sea from the balcony. Very friendly staff. Modern and comfortable beds.

Negative: "Portopiccolo", that sounds like a cute, old Italian coastal town. And it really tries to be just that. But once you look behind the facade, like the small bistro and shops along the pier, all that remains is fake. Portopiccolo is nothing more than a gated community, a collection of hotels and appartement buildings, including underground parking underneath all of them. Some might find that nice and convenient, to me it is everything that is wrong with mass tourism. Portopiccolo has no soul, no people actually living in it, no culture other than what its architects intended it to have. To me it felt very "wrong" to stay there. The same theme continues within the appartement: It also tries very hard to be something it is not. It wants to be "luxury", but makes so many avoidable mistakes on the way: Upon arrival I was required to sign a waiver to acknowledging its "pristine state", report any damage within one hour and leave a deposit of 500€ in case we cause any damage. - Makes you feel like a criminal... So we did the one thing, nobody wants nor should to do on their vacation: we searched for imperfections - and did we find them; I sent more then 30 pictures to the receptionists. Most of what we found was irrelevant to us, we probably would not even have noticed it normally. But some issues were more unpleasant: dirty wine glasses, one shower was not clean, small stains on the couch,... All of that left a bitter taste on what could have been a very good, modern (but not luxury!) accommodation. I will not go again.
