Summary: Marino Beach hotel was a welcome surprise. The lobby is beautiful, and the staff is exceptionally friendly and professional. The buffet was overflowing with variety, perhaps better than the Shangri-La. My only note is that if you are a light sleeper, the walls are very thin, and there is a lot of noise. Not from outside, such as traffic, but noise of other guests and cleaners slamming doors, etc. If not for this, it would be my favorite hotel in Colombo.
