Besides the excavations of the ancient greek city of Kaulon in Monasterace itself, other nearby places of interest are the picturesque village of Stilo (15 km.) with its unique Byzantine Cattolica Church, the waterfalls of Bivongi (20 km), the famously known town of hospitality Riace (12 km.) and finding site of the world-famous bronze statues, the lively seaside town of Roccella Ionica (20 km.) with its medieval castle, its port and its prestigious Jazz Festival "Rumori Mediterranei" (every August), as well as the archaeological park Locri Epizefiri (44 Km.) and the historic mountain village of Gerace (45 km.).
