Avella is an Italian town ofinhabitants in the province of Avellino in Campania. The cultivation of hazelnuts is renowned, which takes its name from this municipality. In Latin the fruit of the hazelnut is called nux avellana, while in Catalan, Spanish, Portuguese and Occitan the hazelnut is called respectively avellana, avellana, avelã and avelana.
